ENBD is seeking a highly innovative and transformative leader to assume responsibility for developing the people, process and technology to compete on the global stage. The leadership role will reside in the Group IT division. Group IT drives and delivers the IT solutions, that powers success across multiple international geographies and nationally within the UAE.
The Data team is an enterprise data team that harvests data from internal and external data sources and publishes data to consumers e.g., operational and analytical users of data. The Enterprise Data Platform team is an enabler to key functional areas e.g., AI, ML, AACOE, Analytics, Digital, Compliance, Risk and Marketing.
The Data Platform team is also responsible for Enterprise Data Platform for all business units and entities, leveraging the Cloudera Hadoop, ODS and SAP Hana data stores, building and supporting ETL pipelines and implementing ML technologies.
The Senior Platform Owner – Big Data & ETL Tools will lead a team of Data and ML practitioners –data engineers, ML engineers and technical engineers.
The role is responsible for all data used at the Bank including Databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB), Hadoop, SAP HANA, Informatica, Spark, Kafka, and Redis. The role is required to work closely with Business and Technology stakeholders.
This role involves ensuring the data platforms meet security requirements, are used efficiently by different workloads e.g., applications, data scientists, analytical users. There is also the need to audit and monitor activity. A key part of the role is resource management e.g., working with resource and product vendors scaling to provide resources to meet delivery demand. A key requirement is Servant Leadership, creating an environment where the engineers are empowered and encouraged to grow and build expertise and ownership. The role involves team management including recruiting of FTE and contractors and ensuring individuals’ careers and performance is managed according to HR policies.
Leading platform architecture that power the Bank with new ML technologies. Ensure timely optimization and proper maintenance of ML processes.
The role requires an Agile mindset as well as building an Agile culture as defined by the LEAP Strategy. The role also is required to adopt a continuous improvement approach to delivery and automation implementation e.g., DevOps, CI/CD.
Skills & Experience:-
- Bachelor of Computer Science or Equivalent
- Relevant Certification
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in Banking & Finance industry or technology company
- Minimum 5 years professional experience in Data Warehouse and Analytics
- Knowledge/exposure to Modern Data Warehouse Architecture and Analytics platforms
- Agile working practices
- 5 years Data Engineering experience or analytics experience
- 2 years’ experience of DevOps, CI/CD
- 5 years’ experience of managing large team >10
Technical/Functional:
- Solid knowledge of Data Warehouse principles
- 5 years’ Experience of working with Databases (Oracle, PostgresSQL, MongoDB)
- 5 years’ Experience of working with Hadoop and HANA
- 4+ years of working experience with ETL tool, preferably Informatica.
- 3+ years’ Experience of implementing ML technologies
- Experience of working with Hadoop related tools e.g., Spark, Scoop
- 2 years’ Experience of working in Agile teams as part of a squad.
- 2-year Experience of technical aspects of Data Governance including glossary, metadata, data quality, master data management & data lifecycle management
Managerial:
