Executive Chef Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Executive Chef to lead our kitchen staff and address any kitchen issues efficiently. The Executive Chef will be responsible for attracting and retaining staff, fostering a collaborative team environment, optimizing staff productivity, and stepping in as needed. You will train staff in new recipes, cooking techniques, and equipment, oversee food preparation, manage the delivery of food supplies, prepare special dishes, and supervise overall kitchen operations during dinner service.
To succeed in this role, you must ensure your team delivers high-quality, cost-effective dishes promptly. Ideal candidates will be creative, service-oriented, and composed under pressure.
Executive Chef Responsibilities:
– Ensuring the promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes
– Coordinating the tasks of cooks
– Implementing hygiene policies and inspecting equipment for cleanliness
– Designing new recipes, planning menus, and selecting plate presentations
– Reviewing staffing levels to achieve service, operational, and financial goals
– Hiring and training kitchen staff, including cooks, food preparation workers, and dishwashers
– Handling administrative tasks, managing inventory, and placing purchase orders
– Setting and monitoring performance standards for staff
– Gathering feedback on food and service quality and addressing customer issues and complaints
Executive Chef Requirements:
– Over 2 years of culinary education
– More than 5 years of experience in a similar role
– Advanced knowledge of food industry principles and practices
– Proficient in human resources management
– Strong understanding of BOH systems, ordering, and inventory management
– Excellent communication skills
– Ability to meet deadlines
– Availability to work on-call, during shifts, after hours, on weekends, and public holidays
