Position Overview


Perform tasks and assignments to support the Electrical Engineering team in design, development, testing and documentation of Sparton’s maritime electronic systems.

Learning Outcomes


  • How to test and troubleshoot Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) at the component level using common lab equipment (Multimeters, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers).
  • How to simulate analog, digital and RF circuits using industry standard EDA tools.
  • How to use schematic capture and PCB layout tools to realize designs.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Use Sparton policies and procedures to complete work assignments.
  • Assist in the development of low-cost, high-volume circuit design for defense and security system development.
  • Assist in the design, model, simulation and test of electronic circuits, subsystems and systems.
  • Assist engineering with design modification of electronic subsystems and systems for development efforts
  • Assist with creating schematic drawings and support PCB design, layout and routing of subassemblies and systems
  • Support electrical engineers in the development process.
  • Interface with other design personnel to design, execute and test prototype electronics.

Secondary Responsibilities


  • Design and conduct in-house system and subsystem tests.
  • Generates electrical design documentation and report data from tests.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of engineering activities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements


Sparton interns must meet the following criteria:

  • Active pursuit of a Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or requiring sponsorship.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work on-site in De Leon Springs, FL
