Position Overview
Perform tasks and assignments to support the Electrical Engineering team in design, development, testing and documentation of Sparton’s maritime electronic systems.
Learning Outcomes
- How to test and troubleshoot Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) at the component level using common lab equipment (Multimeters, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers).
- How to simulate analog, digital and RF circuits using industry standard EDA tools.
- How to use schematic capture and PCB layout tools to realize designs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Use Sparton policies and procedures to complete work assignments.
- Assist in the development of low-cost, high-volume circuit design for defense and security system development.
- Assist in the design, model, simulation and test of electronic circuits, subsystems and systems.
- Assist engineering with design modification of electronic subsystems and systems for development efforts
- Assist with creating schematic drawings and support PCB design, layout and routing of subassemblies and systems
- Support electrical engineers in the development process.
- Interface with other design personnel to design, execute and test prototype electronics.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Design and conduct in-house system and subsystem tests.
- Generates electrical design documentation and report data from tests.
- Keep accurate and complete records of engineering activities.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Sparton interns must meet the following criteria:
- Active pursuit of a Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
- Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or requiring sponsorship.
- Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to work on-site in De Leon Springs, FL
