Civil Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated civil engineer with extensive industry knowledge. The ideal candidate should be comfortable dividing their time between office work, on-site inspections, and attending council meetings.

The successful candidate will be a critical thinker with strong expertise in mathematics and physics, enabling them to identify and resolve engineering challenges. Creativity is essential for developing innovative solutions and enhancing technical processes. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively present ideas, make recommendations, and negotiate project details with team members, subcontractors, and clients.

Civil Engineer Responsibilities:

– Create detailed designs for projects.
– Conduct feasibility assessments and site inspections.
– Prepare and implement project plans.
– Research and provide accurate estimates for projects.
– Review and ensure compliance with government regulations and ordinances.
– Monitor and optimize safety procedures, production processes, and regulatory adherence.
– Recommend or present alternative solutions to problems.
– Liaise confidently with clients and professional subcontractors.
– Handle project management tasks, including managing budgets, resources, and deadlines, as well as acquiring and compiling quotes.

Civil Engineer Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers.
– Registration or licensure as a professional engineer may be required.
– A minimum of 5 years of industry experience is preferred.
– Proficiency with design software such as Autodesk, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
– Familiarity with map creation and photo imaging software.
– Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high accuracy in calculations and design.
– Excellent time management abilities to meet project deadlines.
– Leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse team of professionals.
– Capability to coordinate and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
